The control module runs an EVAP integrity monitor under vehicle-specific enabling conditions. Depending on system design, the monitor may use engine vacuum, pressure change, a leak-detection pump, natural-vacuum behavior, or another strategy; the exact valve commands, sensor arrangement, and leak-test method vary by manufacturer and system design. Code P0455 sets when the measured response is consistent with a gross loss of system integrity relative to the calibrated criteria.
