The fault represents a total communication silence from the TCM node rather than an error in the data content itself.

What does U0101 mean?

The TCM (Transmission Control Module) is the computer that controls gear selection and shift timing. When U0101 appears, the vehicle's main network has stopped hearing the TCM's status signals—like a dropped phone call where the transmission "talks" but nobody's listening. Without feedback on what gear you're in, the engine can't safely control power, so the transmission goes into limp mode to protect itself.
